CEIBA

In 1916, Gustav Otto and Karl Rapp, two brilliant German engineers, merged their respective companies to form the Bayerische Motoren Werke, better known as BMW. Initially specialized in aeronautics, BMW started focusing on motorcycles in 1919, and launched in 1923 the R32, the first of their R series model.

Produced between 1987 and 1996, the R100 R is the last representative of this series. More than a new model, it is a real tribute to all the previous ones and is equipped with the best technologies of the time, among which the paralever system. Our base model was first registered in Bavaria, land of its ancestors, in 1992, where it lived all its life until we got our hands on it.

Ceiba was born in our minds in late 2019. Working on what is to use one of BMW’s iconic models meant a lot. We had at stake the creation of an authentic vehicle, faithful to its Bavarian origins and history, imbued by nature.

Thus, everything, from its colors to its name, is a tribute to the spirit of nature. In fact, its name, Ceiba, is that of an imposing tropical tree, which can measure over 70 meters high and was revered by the Mayan civilisation, who saw it as a symbol of abundance. The ceiba was their representation of the link allowing the spirits of the dead, via its imposing roots and its endless branches, to ascend the beyond from the realm of the dead.

To balance its very rough, rustic appearance and make it a modern motorcycle, we chose to equip it with modern technologies, guaranteeing its pilot a comfortable ride and giving him real time data on the status of his vehicle.

Today, it is on the wild roads of Ohio, USA, that Ceiba perpetuates its history.
